Interformat

Edition #4. Edited by Jodi Rose, Vytautas Michelkevičius and Mindaugas Gapševičius

Honeycomb found in Brussels, OKNO initiativeOne of the key features of contemporary culture is the changing role of the artist, who sometimes assumes the role of a researcher and curator, and vice versa. Where are the borders of these roles? How could a serious researcher and theorist do a performance, and how could a playful artist do serious research and theorize?

The Interformat Edition is launched in parallel to the Symposium “Reinventing Interdisciplinarity > Adapting to the Future” organised in Nida and covers new ways of collaboration between artists, curators, and researchers, looking for new formats in order to adapt to the new conditions of changing art world, institutions and audiences. The contributions of the Edition will supplement the symposium broadening the artistic expression and inquiring into the research and practices covering reinvention of interdisciplinary forms.

We think of Interformat as the art form which was not yet explored or was explored and again forgotten. Interformat for us is something what could be described in between the forms or objects it could be something in between nature and technology, periphery and city, arts and science, sound and video.

We are kindly inviting artists, curators, and researchers to think of unconventional Fluxus actions, to think of the gap, space or hole, to think of light, wind or water, all one can grasp but not really define. Articles, images, sound and video files are kindly appreciated for inclusion into the Interformat Edition. Please send your material to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
